Model size is not a business outcome.

Software and product life

Maintainability is resource efficiency.

Systems that can be understood, changed, migrated, and operated safely avoid premature replacement. Documentation, observability, testing, and open interfaces are therefore sustainability concerns as well as engineering concerns.

Important distinction

Less compute is not automatically the responsible answer.

Reliability, safety, accessibility, security, and useful performance can justify additional resources. The responsible decision is the one that can explain the trade-off, demonstrate the need, and revisit the assumption when conditions change.

This approach applies to client systems and to Root Digit’s internal technology choices. It does not turn an architecture review into an environmental certification or imply performance that has not been measured.
